Great Beginnings Early Education Center

Under a $450,000 subcontract with Turner Construction, Arrowhead provided masonry services for the new Parents as Teachers and Early Childhood Education facility located in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Careful consideration during the selection of color and texture for the modular masonry units creates a subtle balance between the natural setting and the building's façade. The load bearing double wythe masonry walls grow from the ground with a rough textured wainscot of integrally colored split faced block.  Tempering the harsh appearance are smooth eight-inch-square accents of burnished block placed randomly throughout the wainscot simulating the diversity of nature.  A light colored burnished accent band provides transition from the rough textured base to the smooth field brick above as well as highlighting window and door openings.  Standard modular field brick with a pattern of projected coursing and articulation of masonry control joints establish a measured rhythm that ties the various design elements together.

North Kansas City New Fourth High School and District Activity Center (DAC)

Under a $1.7 million subcontract with J.E. Dunn Construction, Arrowhead provided masonry services for the New Fourth High School DAC located in North Kansas City, Missouri.  The new school building has a steel-frame structure with masonry walls.

Unit masonry within the 300,000 square foot structure includes concrete masonry units, decorative masonry units, burnished masonry units, face brick and colored precast concrete coping and wall caps.  Brick surfaces were also installed for the High School and DAC entry signs, and the DAC Football Stadium entry wall.  Multiple mobilizations were required due to coordination with the steel contractor and load-bearing masonry walls.

Downtown Kansas City Arena/Sprint Center

Arrowhead was awarded a $940,000 subcontract with M.A. Mortenson Construction for masonry construction services at the new Sprint Center Arena located in downtown Kansas City.  Arrowhead is providing over 50,000 square feet of unit masonry for the event level of the Arena.  The masonry walls provide fire rating protection and high durability for this high traffic area of the Arena.  Work sequencing, staging of materials, and client coordination will be paramount to the successful completion of the fast-track schedule.

The 18,000-seat arena is envisioned as a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a week, state-of-the-art, world-class venue. It is expected to host concerts, family shows, professional, collegiate and amateur sporting competitions and special events. It will also be home to the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame.
