Andrews AFB

Arrowhead completed the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) security upgrade for Andrews AFB under a firm-fixed price, design/build, ID/IQ contract.

The diverse, technically complex scope of work entailed constructing/installing/validating many of the newest, most advanced CBRN detection and C41 notification systems currently employed by the DoD.  Work phases included:

1. Base-wide installation of chemical and biological detection sensors,
2. Installation of radiological detection systems – five portal monitors;
3. CBRN collective protective (ColPro) upgrade of existing facilities and complete HVAC replacement and structure sealing procedures throughout multiple mission-critical facilities; and,
4. Installation of a C4I communications system – including an omni-directional antenna system and radio receivers in numerous buildings.

Arrowhead worked closely with base engineering to utilize existing infrastructure  to eliminate costly installation exercises, saving the client over $100K. The project was completed three weeks ahead of schedule.
